Teena Brooks is the director of BEAR Central at Lenoir-Rhyne and has been a dedicated member of the LR community since 2017. Passionate about supporting student success, she began working with students in an academic coaching role while pursuing her master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at LR. After earning her master’s degree, Brooks served as a professional academic advisor, a licensed clinical mental health counselor and a certified Enneagram coach. She is an advocate for student’s well-being both academically and holistically.

Brooks' dedication extends beyond advising. Drawing on her own experience as a first-generation college student, she leads initiatives like First-Gen Fridays, National First-Gen Day and the First-Gen Student Association, fostering a vibrant community for incoming students. Beyond first-year support, she established the academic recovery program, extending essential guidance to students on academic probation.
